A Gift to Children, Davey and Goliath

Back in 1995 I produced Mosaic, the video magazine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. In this story, we looked back at Davey and Goliath, the successful children’s television series that began airing in 1961. We interviewed R. Marshall Stross, former executive director of Davey and Goliath, for the Lutheran Church in America. We also spoke with Ruth Clokey Goodell and Art Clokey, the animation team that created Davey. One interesting footnote: During research we discovered that Joe Clokey, the son of Art and Ruth Clokey, is a video producer. Joe and his wife Jora went to Covena, California, to record the interview with Ruth.
