Jim Quattrocki, Kevin Jacobson, Jim Parks and I created this video in May, 1999. MTV was going strong in those days and reality TV was still in it’s infancy. So we gave they style a try. “Through My Eyes” follows an American college student, Hmong Ly, to the West Bank city of Ramallah and Jerusalem to see the Holy Land through the eyes of a Palestinian young adult named Luna. We had romantic notions about shocking revelations surrounding the Arab/Israeli conflict. As it turned out, we knew a lot more about the political situation than Luna did. Luna’s big interest was shopping!
That said, this retro film gives an interesting glimpse into the lives of Palestinian Christians at the turn of the century.
