In taking a closer look at your video, this is not a video of the ’66 contest, but rather the October ’60 contest between the two teams. The tip off are these: 1) The “Braves” logo on the facade of County Stadium; 2) the 10 ft. high uprights on the goal posts (20 feet were mandated in ’66); 3) The numbering style the Packers’ unis belonged to only one year–’60. 4) Lamar McHan (#17) was the Packers QB.

The 12-4-66 game was played on a 27-degree day and on a frozen field; the baseball infield had an icy sheen to it. Thhe reason I’m certain that it’s the 10-23-60 game against the 49ers is the presence, simultaneously, of the raised outfield bleachers, which were put in in 1960, and Perini’s Woods in straightaway center field. Those trees were cut down and replaced with more bleachers in 1961. Which means this game was played in 1960, and that the opponent was either the 49ers or the Rams. The Rams have had blue helmets since before County Stadium was built.

My dad was/is a Packer fan and guessed it was the 49ers before we saw the post. One of the Packer tackles would have been Forest Gregg. The ends were Max McGee (85) and Boyd Dowler (86). He’ll look again and fill in some other names. Ray Nitschke would have been the middle linebacker.

Did some research. Hornung retired after 1966 so this eliminates 1967. In 65, the Packers played 2 games at Milwaukee; Baltimore Colts and Dallas Cowboys. Clearly this team is neither. So that leaves 1966. In 66, they played the Colts, the Falcons and the 49r’s. Checking on throwback uniforms, the only match to the socks is the 49r’s further confirmed by the #85 tight end and #44 fullback. This game was played on 12-4-66 with the Packers winning 20-7. This was the Packer Team to go on and win the first Superbowl against KC. Nice footage. If you own a lot more, I’d submit to the NFL. Most footage including the Superbowl was destroyed in a studio fire.

I attended a few Packer games at County Stadium when I lived at your grandmothers on 27th street from 1963 thru 1965. I was attending UWM my first 2 years before going to Madison, and a tenant named Virtz had an extra season ticket, which I was able to buy.

I can’t name the team, although my initial thought upon seeing the video was San Francisco. If you could somehow enhance the video to get the number of the QB, maybe we could figure it out.

Jack
