Fascinating story. Thanks for posting. I wish we had met while I was in production. I would love to see those photos. The foundation of the caretaker house is still there. However, it is completely engulfed by invasive buckthorn and honeysuckle bushes. You really have to work to see it.

They lived in the first house right behind the stone gate. Their son, Elvin, was shot in the back at age 16 while out shooting with a Johnson relative. It was deemed accidental, but it seemed specious at the time (1938) given that Big Bill was into questionable activates and being watched. Regardless, it was a great tragedy. I have a few pictures of my Mom and her sister visiting their grandparents at the farm and she has some memories of her visits.
