]]>The Helen Plum Library in Lombard, Illinois (my home town) has asked me to tell stories during construction of their new library. Yesterday they began demolition of the vacant Mr. Zee grocery store. It’s hard for the town because the family owned grocery was an important part of the fabric of Lombard.
The Library Board and staff have been working with architects to bring the new building to life for the Lombard community with additional space for materials, events, and studying. They are excited to move forward with plans for our new building at 411 South Main Street!

The People’s Resource Center, an organization that brings neighbors together to respond to hunger and poverty in DuPage County, Illinois, is making the most of the video segments I helped them produced this spring by creating a YouTube Channel. The channel offers PRC a place where clients, supporters and the wider community can easily access content, distribute and promote stories about there good work. Instead of simply creating a DVD and showing it a few times, PRC is building an audience and encouraging folks who care about PRC to tell there own stories.

HAPI is an UMCOR funded fair trade artisan co-op focused on spirituality and creativity. The Shalom Singers are a group of young adults associated with HAPI.
This video was recorded at a local hotel. We were running out of daylight and finished recording just as the sun set over the mountains!

The group is standing inside the mouth of a tiger. The Shalom Singers leader and HAPI Co-founder, Paul Prevost, thought this would serve as a metaphor illustrating Haitian resolve to trust in Jesus of Nazareth, even when surrounded by danger.

]]>Poverty in DuPage County may not look like what you or I might expect. In this story, we meet a college educated mother of five, who found herself in need.
Since 1975, People’s Resource Center has been bringing neighbors together to respond to hunger and poverty in DuPage, County, Illinois.
Services that meet people’s basic needs include food pantries that provide more than 7,000 families with 35,000 grocery carts filled with a week’s worth of food including fresh produce, frozen meats and bread.
