All Citizens
The Lombard women who voted 29 years before the
19th amendment and the story of those who made it possible.
On April 6, 1891 fifteen Lombard women, led by Chicago attorney
Ellen A. Martin, marched into their local polling place and demanded to vote. It was 29 years before the 19th amendment to the United States Constitution secured women’s right to vote nation-wide.
Martin and her colleagues, all prominent Lombard women, were able to vote because 22 years earlier, Civil War General, Benjamin Sweet, author of the founding charter of Lombard, deliberately wrote “All Citizens… shall be entitled to vote at any election.”
Tim Frakes Productions and the Lombard Historical Society are proud to present this new documentary that tells the story of these suffrage pioneers in this, the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment.
All Citizens. A documentary by Tim Frakes with the Lombard Historical Society.

Dr. Munazza Yaqoob from the International Islamic University in Islamabad, Pakistan heads the Critical Thinking Forum, a kind of interdisciplinary think-tank for young Pakistani women.
The US-Pakistan Interreligious Consortium seeks to cooperatively set an action agenda toward policy change and build bridges of faith-based understanding and respect between our two countries.

]]>PARABLES is the story of an interactive, hands-on, “special-needs friendly” weekly worship service at Wayzata Presbyterian Church in Wayzata, Minnesota. I produced this story for CUE Seminaries. PARABLES is led by Pastor Leslie Neugent, the parent of a special needs child. According to Neugent, “The inspiration for this came after attending a [worship] service. A young church member with special needs began to sing “Jesus Loves Me” during a sermon. Because it was disturbing to those around him, the child’s father quickly wheeled him out into the hallway. This had been such a holy moment— the child was moved by the Spirit to praise God in song, with no inhibitions, but was discouraged by our society’s protocol. At that moment, I knew that this community needed a worship service of total inclusion to celebrate the unique gifts of those with special needs and to have the spiritual support of other parents who also walk this “road less traveled.”
