About the only good thing connected to this year’s lousy Chicago winter weather is the call I got from The Weather Channel. John Thayer, an old pal from my TV-38 days is now the Senior Manager for Broadcast Operations. John referred me to Assignment Manager Eileen Winslow.
It has been a few years since I shot news, but the day went well. I worked with roving National Correspondent Jorma Duran. Jorma hails from Pueblo, Colorado. Since we both have roots in the Rockies, we made a nice connection. Jorma and I shot footage of a winter storm impact on the Chicago loop, and then drove out to WGN to interview venerable Chicago weatherman Tom Skilling.
