Returning to Jerusalem with the Lutheran World Federation

Today I purchased airfare for a return to Jerusalem to work with Mark Brown and Tawfiq Nasser with the Lutheran World Federation Department for World Service – Jerusalem. The Lutheran World Federation’s Jerusalem Program has been running projects related to health, education, and humanitarian aid in the Palestinian Territories for over 60 years.

In addition to recording stories about LWF’s amazing work in Jerusalem including Augusta Victoria Hospital, vocational training, fare housing and emergency assistance for Syrian refugees, I’ll be recording the Palm Sunday procession from Bethany to the Old City on Sunday, 13 April. There will be big crowds in 2014 because the Eastern and Western Easter liturgical calendars coincide. According to Mark, “It is a very lively, musical and colorful event with pilgrims from around the world and from around Palestine”.

Augusta Victoria Hospital is located on the top of the Mount of Olives, overlooking the old city of Jerusalem. Augusta Victoria’s tower is among Jerusalem’s most iconic landmarks.

Here is a video I produced in 2008 at Augusta Victoria Hospital.
